DIY Geiger Counter

手作りガイガーカウンター

There is a kit (basically a circuit board) you can buy on the web to make the core component of a DIY Geiger counter. Add a power source (e.g. batteries), a Geiger-Muller tube, a case and an optional LCD screen and you have yourself a fully functioning Geiger counter! I assembled one recently for a total cost of about 11,000 yen. That includes the cost of the pricey Geiger-Muller tube (bought on yahoo auctions for 5000 yen). There are counters out on the Japanese market selling for over 1,000,000 yen for basically the same functionality, so the cost is quite reasonable.

ネットで、手作りのガイガーカウンターのキット（基板のみ）を購入ができます。 その基板に電気源泉、GMチューブ、ケース、あと欲しければのLCDディスプレーを追加したら、 本格的なガイガーカウンターができます！この間一台を組み合わせました。全部入れて、11,000円 になりました。その料金には高いGMチューブが含まれています（ヤフオクで5000円だった）。 日本で1,000,000円以上のカウンターが売れていますけど基本の機能は大体同じ。 だからこのカウンターは結構リースナブルだと思う。

However, you do have to solder the circuit board yourself. If you have no experience doing this you should read up on and practise some soldering first.

ただし、自分で半田（はんだ）を付け、基板を組み合わせないと。素人さん達は先ず半田スキルを鍛えたほうがいい。
